The S.S. Torilla was a passenger cargo ship built by Palmers’ Ship Building & Iron Co Ltd in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear, England, at a cost of £83,200. It was launched on 27th May 1911 and delivered to the British India Steam Navigation Co Ltd of Glasgow on 28th July 1911.

The ship had accommodation for sixty 1st class passengers, 32 2nd class & 2,234 deck passengers. It was initially designed for India/Australia service. During WW1 the ship carried troops from Bombay to Marseilles. After the end of the war, it was transferred to Far East service.

On 30th October 1927 the ship was sold for breaking up in Osaka.
